Out of school care and vacation care service
We choose to recognise the Wangal People of the Eora Nation as the true owners of the land on which we stand: the burra (sky) above and of the badu (water) that surrounds us.
We thank the Elders past, present and emerging who are the original custodians of the land in which Bigi Bigi (Abbotsford) Community Centre sits.
We are a dynamic out of school hours and vacation care service located on the grounds of Abbotsford Public School. The Centre provides a high quality programme aimed at creating a supportive environment in which our children are able to explore, thrive and have fun! We are licensed to care for 150 children and use a 1:15 staff to child ratio.
BSC is open from 7am – 9am. Breakfast is offered every morning and runs from 7am – 8.15am. We run morning activities targeted at making connections and building social skills. before heading out the front to enjoy some outdoor time or, relax indoors.
At 8:30am we sign out children with permission to leave earlier and at 8.45am we all pack away and get our bags, ready to be taken to school by the Educators.
ASC is open 3:00pm – 6:30pm during NSW school terms (excluding public holidays).
From 3:00 – 3:30pm children are signed in to ASC and served afternoon tea prepared by our dedicated Centre Cook. From 3:45pm-5pm is our program hour, where the children have an opportunity to engage in a range of activities from sport, to cooking to STEM that are planned by our Educators and Educational Leader weekly.
At 5pm, children are served an afternoon tea snack and activities are packed away. Children engage in their own self-directed play and learning until 6pm.
Vacation care is open from 7am-6:30pm during NSW school holidays and pupil free days (excluding public holidays and two weeks over Christmas and New Years).
Vacation care adopts similar morning and afternoon routines to term time with a mix of incursions and excursions. We are in the process of creating our Autumn program and will soon provide information on locations, transport and individual staff to child ratios based on the risk assessments.
Places can be booked through the Booking Calendar on the Xplor Home App.
If you have not used the Centre before but would like your child to attend Vacation Care, please complete an Enrolment Form through the ‘ENROL’ tab or contact the Centre.
The Centre is committed to serving meals that are both healthy and delicious with a menu that integrates the children’s opinions and balances food groups. The weekly menu posted on the website for parents to view. We serve afternoon tea at 3pm and again at 5pm daily, where we always have plates of fruit and vegetables on offer.
